Community Outreach and Education
Understanding the importance of proactive health management, First Community Hospital has committed staff that conduct community outreach and education within the sub-county focusing public health.
The hospital regularly conducts educations and free screening, aiming to equip residents with the knowledge and resources to live healthier lives. In partnership with local organizations, the hospital’s community programs address public health issues such as diabetes prevention, heart health, mental wellness, maternal and child health, and sanitation and hygiene.
Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusivity
First Community Hospital believes that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone. The hospital is working to onboard insurance providers, explore affordable treatment options and work with government agencies to ensure that no patient is turned away due to financial constraints. Additionally, interpreters and multilingual staff are available to cater to non-English-speaking patients, creating an inclusive space for all.
Health facilities in Kasanje: 1 health center III, 2 government-aided health facilities, 9 clinics, and 22 drug shops. The Health Center III, which is the biggest in Kasanje, has no maternity wards or operating theaters.
On this background, access to quality healthcare is a significant challenge. Residents often have to travel long distances to reach the nearest hospital or medical facility, which can be a major barrier to receiving timely and effective care. This can lead to delayed diagnoses, untreated illnesses, and generally poorer health outcomes.
We launched a drive to raise funds for the construction and equipping of a new hospital in Kasanje sub-county that will ensure that residents have access to essential medical services close to home beyond the primary health care they have been getting from existing hospitals. 1st Community Hospital will provide comprehensive healthcare services, including emergency care, maternity care, chronic disease management, and preventive health services.
